Dublin Gallery Weekend also marks the launch of Taylor Two, a new second-floor exhibition space dedicated to invited artists. This inaugural presentation introduces a fresh layer to Taylor Galleries’ long-standing commitment to fostering artistic dialogue and supporting emerging and established voices.
We are delighted to welcome Banbha McCann as our first participating artist. Banbha will open with Wake Window, a solo exhibition curated by Eamonn Maxwell comprising 12 paintings made during the first raw year of motherhood that explore intimacy, new perspectives and moments of wonder. The title refers to the amount of time an infant can comfortably stay awake between sleeps, and these paintings capture things that Banbha observed during those periods.
‘As a body of work they share the experience of my perspective shifting to the foreground, images/ worlds in the distance disappear to reveal the raw emotions and immediacy of new life’
Banbha McCann’s practice examines the memories, expectations and desires held in objects and spaces, from the private and humble to the public and grandiose. She trained at Chelsea College of Art and at UCD.
Recent and forthcoming exhibitions include Rathfarnham Castle, Temple Bar Gallery and Studios, Pallas Projects, and The Dock. Her work is in the collections of the Arts Council of Ireland and the OPW.
